Backsliding, by Richard Owen Roberts
Date posted: August 01, 2016
What exactly is backsliding? Nowhere in all Scripture is it better described than in Proverbs 14:14, "The backslider in heart shall be filled with his own ways." There you have it-a backslider is a person who was once emptied of his own ways and filled with the ways of God, but who gradually allows his own ways to creep back in until he is all but empty of God and full of himself again.

Antonin Scalia: Tipping the Scales of Justice
Date posted: February 25, 2016
During my prayer time this morning, the Lord brought the death of Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia to my thoughts. As I pondered the significance of his death during this political season, I couldn’t help but think that God has brought us to a prophetic crossroads. Bear with me as I lay out the spiritual and political issues that I see unfolding.

Why is everyone so offended?
Date posted: December 22, 2015
Why is everyone so offended??? For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. All these are the beginning of sorrows. Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake. And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another. And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. Matthew 24:7-13 This end time prophesy contains many issues that most would agree are happening now... Wars, famine, and natural disasters are all on the increase. Hatred for and persecution against Christians is rampant around the globe. Finally, it says that many will be offended, we are there. We live in a time when people don't just get offended, they live offended and look for any and every opportunity to place the blame of their offended spirit on someone or something. So why is this happening? Let me offer a reason found in Christianity 101, how to settle offences. Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother. But if he will not hear thee, then take with thee one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established. And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it unto the church: but if he neglect to hear the church, let him be unto thee as an heathen man and a publican. Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them. Matthew 18:15-20 Matthew 18 is all about settling offences but the verses that I have included here zero in on our issue. In the church we are commanded by Jesus to settle ALL offences. Here He even gives us a procedure. When an offences occurs YOU (the offended) go to the offender and tell it between the two of you. If the offender refuses take 2 or 3 witness and try again to settle it. If the offender refuses still, then tell it to the church and treat that person like a heathen and a publican, in other words, treat them like an unsaved person not a Christian. This seems so harsh to our generation because almost no church on the planet practices this. Church growth principles supercede Scripture everytime. So offended people leave one church and go to the next church bringing their offences with them. Then Pastor Crowdpleaser is waiting with open arms to tell them how much more "loving" their church is and we will never offend you. Too late!!! The damage is done. Today our churches are literally filled with offended people. Which leads us to our final point in our first text. When offended church goers begin to hate and betray one another it creates a platform for false prophets. These wolves only want a crowd and money, they could care less about producing saints that obey Jesus, they only want a full auditorium and a bank account to match. So they teach a false love and a false grace. They erase the word "sin" from everyone's vocabulary and voila! Just like that, iniquity abounds. If we are going to fix this we must return to the principles of Matthew 18. Binding and loosing of offences is the power of the church. But the church today believes we only remit sins and never retain them. When a person refuses to fix an offense the church must view this as the highest form of rebellion against the cross of Christ!!! We must understand that MANY ARE NOT GOING TO BE FORGIVEN BECAUSE THEY REFUSE TO FORGIVE!!! The beauty of the gospel is that we offended Our Holy God and are worthy of death but God who is rich in mercy sent His Son to suffer death for us and blot out our sins. When we by faith receive this mercy He then commands us to show mercy to others. This is the center piece of our prayers, forgive us our debts AS WE forgive our debtors. ANYONE who receives this can find mercy and ALL who refuse this will die in their sins and spend eternity in the lake of fire. As long as rebels who refuse to resolve offences are treated like church members in good standing we will continue to feed this end time problem. Iniquity will continue to abound and the love of MANY will grow colder. And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost: Whose soever sins ye remit, they are remitted unto them; and whose soever sins ye retain, they are retained. John 20:22-23 For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. Matthew 6:15-15
