What's Wrong With This Picture

What's wrong with this picture?

If you're like me, you might have the urge to speed read through some of the more mundane chapters in the Old Testament. However there is so much wealth in all of scripture, take this verse for example.

Exodus 25:15 says, "The poles are to remain in the rings of this ark; they are not to be removed."

This verse was the topic at our latest fellowship meeting. Why would God command this?

I have been editing church sermons for almost 20 years now.  Some charismatics are so proud that their church services are "led by the spirit".  They are not like denominational churches that have pre-planned programs and set structures.  However we all can fall into a pattern of worship that begins to harden over time, just like concrete.  We find something that works and then tell God to stay put, we pull out the poles so He can't get out!

Well, what about us?  Are we tuned in to His voice?  Are we willing to move at His command or have we pulled the poles out of our lives?  We get comfortable with God and think we have Him figured out.  We package Him and box Him up and go to Him when we need something. We know just where He is.

The faith filled Christian walk should be exciting, joyful, and filled with wonderment.  If not, you may have pulled the poles out, go back and take a look!
