"A PRAYER GOD WILL ALWAYS ANSWER"

Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater [works] than these he will do, because I go to My Father.  And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.  If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.  Jn 14:12-14

The Work

These verses are part of a discussion Jesus was having with His disciples about the place He was going to prepare and how to get there.  Jesus told His disciples that He was leaving to go and prepare a place for them!  It's a comforting thought to know that this place called earth is not our final destination!  As Heb 11:13 says "we are strangers and pilgrims on the earth".  Eternity with the Father is our final destination!  Hallelujah!   Thomas tells Jesus "Lord, we do not know where You are going and how can we know the way"?  Jesus answers Thomas' question with one of the great verses of the bible "I am the way, the truth and the life.  No one comes to the Father except through Me".  Jesus is saying the place where I am going is to be with the Father and I am the only way for others to get there.  Wow!  Being reconciled to the Father in heaven is the place that Jesus has prepared for all men to go and the way He prepared it was through paying the price for our sin on the cross and on the third day rising again to ascend to the right hand of The Father!  This is the work theat Jesus came to do and the Work of His Father!  From the place of ascension He would send the Holy Ghost to fill His church to continue the work that He started!  Hallelujah!!  He goes on to say in verse 7 "If you had known Me, you would have Known My Father also, and from now on you have known Him and see Him".  Jesus is telling His disciples to know Him was to know who the Father is.  Look at the work that I am doing!  What I am doing is what the Father is doing!  God the Father had set a plan in motion before the world began to save sinners.  Sin separates us from the Father so God in His mercy would make a way for sinners to be with Him again!  Jesus is saying by looking at my works you will see The Father!!!  In verse 16 Jesus say's "And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another helper that He will abide with you forever".  The plan of God the Father, being carried out by Jesus the Son, and empowered by The Holy Spirit to be proclaimed by the Church! This is the Gospel message!  The work of God will always be empowered by the Holy Spirit!

Whatever You ask in my Name I will Do It

Now we see in context what Jesus was telling His disciples.  This verse has been so misused by people through the years as a means to manipulate God to give them whatever they wanted such as new job, cars, money etc.  However it is clear that He is saying ask the Father in His name for anything in regards to the fulfillment of His work and I will do it!  Wow!  I am so encouraged by this!  I see in this hour such a need to have a clear direction in our prayer!  I see more clearly now that the prayer that God the Father will answer is the prayer that is concerned and focused on finishing His work .  Jesus has said that we, the believers in Jesus, would do greater works than He did!  Jesus was only one person with only one body on earth!  But now that He has ascended to the right hand of the Father He has filled His body, one body made up of many, with the Holy Spirit to do greater works!

Pray For Laborers

Then He said to His disciples, "The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few.  Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest." (Mt 9:37-38).

Mathew 9:35-36 is such a clear picture as to the work that Jesus came to do and the work we, The Church Of Jesus Christ, are to continue to do.  Jesus went about all the cities and villages preaching the Gospel of the kingdom and healing every sickness and disease.  It should be noted here that healing accompanied the preaching of the Gospel.   The power of God will always accompany the purpose of God and the work of God.  In verse 36 Jesus looked at the multitudes of people and was moved with compassion because they were weary and scattered like sheep without no shepherd!  Jesus remedy for the condition of weary, shepherd less sheep was to pray for laborers because they were few!  Jesus was saying I need workers to work the work of God!  Pray!  Pray that God would send workers into the harvest field.  I see this as the prayer need of the hour and the prayer that Jesus wants to answer.  I believe the Lord is calling us to pray that He would send us do His work!  God does the sending.  He sent the Son, He sent The Holy Spirit and now He wants to send us!  Pray!  God is a sending God and the Church is the ones sent!  Pray!  The Holy Spirit is pour Helper as Jesus said in Jn 14!  As we pray for the thing that Jesus will always answer, the Holy Spirit will change our hearts and lift up our eyes and send us to our neighbor, and to the uttermost parts of the world to finish His work!  I challenge the church to join me in praying that God the Father would send us as workers into the harvest and to not stop until we go!!!  This is the prayer that God will always answer!!
